  11. Copy RegClean.exe from the CD to a folder on your machine.
  12.  
  13. Please do not run it from a shared writeable network folder, as
  14. RegClean will eventually create an undo file that is specific to
  15. your machine. This file should be stored on your machine. If it
  16. is stored on a network folder, your undo file may get confused
  17. with other users or worse, corrupt data stored on those files.

  19. HOW TO RUN

  22. RegClean will start by displaying a progress dialog. While this 
  23. is shown, it will load a copy of the parts of the registry 
  24. that it is going to check, and perform the actual scanning. 
  25. Depending on how much information is in the registry and the 
  26. speed of your CPU, this will take anywhere from about 
  27. 2 to 30 minutes.

  29. If you have many entries in your registry, there may be times
  30. that RegClean appears to have stopped working. In fact, RegClean
  31. may appear completely halted whenever it is checking remote or
  32. removable drives.

  34. Once these progress meters are gone, you will be prompted for the
  35. next action. You can do two things at this point.

  37. Thing 1 - Exit RegClean.
  38.      
  39.      Well, thatÆs kind of pointless, but you can do it. Just press
  40.      the Cancel button.
  41.  
  42. Thing 2 - Allow RegClean to fix errors that it found.
  43.      
  44.      This will create an UNDO.REG file in the folder where
  45.      RegClean was run from. The file will be titled "Undo
  46.      yyyymmdd hhmmss.REG" where yyyymmdd is the date and hhmmss
  47.      is the time. Then Regclean will remove these entries from
  48.      the registry. You will see a progress meter while it does
  49.      this. Sometimes, the progress meter may stop momentarily,
  50.      but it should resume after a few seconds. When the meter is
  51.      gone, RegClean is done. Press Exit to end RegClean.
